PresenTense's mission is to engage and inspire the most creative minds of our generation, investing their ideas and energy to revitalize the established Jewish community.

We invest in people - in our innovators, entrepreneurs, community leaders, educators, and thinkers - because the community's foundation is built upon its members. Only with a strong foundation can a community thrive and continue to expand, reaching new people across a variety of channels.

Every week, in cities around the world, PresenTense Community members gather to discuss new ideas, build networks with like-minded individuals, learn from one another, and launch startup ventures that lead to new pathways for Jewish engagement and community building.

Check out what some of our community members are doing right now:

  • Matt and Ori's Bible Raps are revolutionizing Jewish education, bringing new life to Hebrew schools and summer camps across North America.
  • Eli's Challah for Hunger, recently mentioned by Bill Clinton in his latest book, sparks community action about the genocide in Darfur through the sale of Challah on more than 30 college campuses across the U.S.
  • In Boston, Ari is running a monthly salon discussion about core challenges facing the local Jewish community.
  • Kevin is holding town halls in Tel Aviv in preparation for launching a PresenTense Hub for social entrepreneurs.
  • In Jerusalem, Brachie is running a fellowship for social entrepreneurs, with 41 ventures launched to date and a 43% success rate in follow on funding and mergers/acquisitions.

Our process is built on three fundamental principles:

Community, Creativity, Pioneering

PresenTense works to upgrade the Jewish People’s Operating System through three steps:

It takes a community to raise an innovator – and to generate new ideas for the future. PresenTense’s global community of young Jews exchange ideas through our Magazine with 10 print issues and counting, and through online conversations using cutting-edge technologies.

A stimulating community inspires creativity. PresenTense brings people together around Local Hubs – centers with a shared workspace, conference rooms, lectures, workshops, and inspiring environment. Outside of Hubs, PresenTense runs workshops like FutureTense roundtables for innovators and connects young staff from over 15 Federations through FedHeads.

PresenTense trains individuals from within this community to become pioneers. Social entrepreneurs have launched 41 ventures since 2007 through our Social Entrepreneur Fellowship, and PTSchool has trained 450 Jewish organizational professionals to upgrade their organizations’ operations. These entrepreneurs bring their skills, ideas, and projects back to their communities, renewing the cycle of engagement and innovation. PresenTense currently has fellowships in Boston and Jerusalem, and will be expanding next September to Tel Aviv and other communities in Israel, North America, and Europe.
