5 Minutes With...Jessica Fisher
Who inspired you to launch this venture?
Everything about this venture was inspired by my mom. Because of her, I had the incredible fortune of having a balanced, sit-down dinner at home with my family almost every day when I was growing up.
Where will your venture be in a year?
In a year, Dinner Around the Table will be running cooking classes for families throughout Chicago and leading workshops and other supplemental programs.
What are the biggest challenges you face?
My biggest challenge is helping people expand from what they know--from kugels to roasted veggies, and from dinner on the go to Dinner Around the Table.
What change do you hope to make?
I hope to inspire Jewish families to think about their eating habits and food choices, to step back and consider ways they can make small changes to their lifestyles.
What is the most valuable thing learned from the program?
You have to lay the foundation before you can start building the staircase. The structure of PresenTense enabled me to make sure I knew where I wanted to go before I started moving.
