The vision of the Lifchitz Family Philanthropy is, "To create a new philanthropic model - the “family giving circle” - that will begin with the Lifchitz Family Philanthropy, and then will branch out to others. This democratic collective giving fund is a hybrid of a traditional family foundation, a tzedekah collective and a giving circle and will be a vehicle through which extended family members pool their charitable resources to create a tzedekah powerhouse."

The Lifchitz Family Philanthropy brought in over $10K for the first round. More exciting than the financial investment was the buy-in of the members of the clan, and the younger ones at that, who are interested in being involved in the teen philanthropy aspects of the organization.

The TAMID Israel Investment Group is a comprehensive, three phased program that connects American business-minded students with the Israeli economic landscape. The initiative aligns the next generation of philanthropists, leaders and investors in Israel through education, hands-on investment experience, and meaningful professional opportunities.

In a time where Israel is experiencing an explosion of innovation, investment, and entrepreneurship while emerging as a world economic powerhouse, no initiative is being taken to encourage business minded college students to engage with this flourishing landscape. This has led to an enormous gap in our generation; the relationship between American Jewish college students and the state of Israel is limited, sporadic, and unsustainable.

TAMID will serve as the vehicle for aligning the personal and professional aspirations of these business-minded students with the collective interests of Israel and the Jewish people. This program is currently being piloted at the University of Michigan and will expand to college campuses nationwide in the near future.

At the foundation of the Tagged Tanakh are digital versions of the Hebrew masoretic text and the JPS English translation. Guided by JPS' editorial expertise, leading scholars and educators will link a variety of relevant texts, commentaries, graphics, videos, tags, and additional resources to specific words and passages to provide multiple access points to the Tanakh.

In addition, users will be invited to contribute their own tags and annotations. Each user will also benefit from encountering those provided by previous users. These tags will enable users to discover a broad range of relevant third-party content, thus bringing the ideas and values of the Tanakh into dialogue with other sources of information found on the internet. Conversations and online interactions around specific topics will engage interest groups, networks of friends, and specialists. These online conversations will be archived and made available to later users. In this way, the wisdom of sages will join the wisdom of the people to carry on the 3000 year conversation of Jewish tradition.

Over the last two decades, conventional products in just about every area of life have undergone a major transformation with the introduction of new, lighter materials with new aesthetic value. Design has emerged as a key factor in product development, focusing attention on the user, learning his needs and responding to them. Yet in Jewish life, things have remained static. Products aimed at facilitating everyday Jewish life are outdated, creating problems rather than solving them. Products such as the hotplate or tefillin bags are just two examples. Where to store the bulky hotplate and even worse, how to clean it? How does today's 'on the go' tefillin user make sure that his tefillin are not damaged by heat build-up in the car, rain or a fall? Not to mention the question of style which seems so outdated next to his iMac!

This is where Odeka comes in. With a team of Jerusalem based industrial designers, Odeka is dedicated to designing products that serve their users, enhance their Jewish experience and bring style to Jewish traditional life.

The Jewish Reconnection Project is a web video series that features dialogues between a group of Jews in New York and in Jerusalem. The ultimate aim of the series is to showcase the diverse individual perspectives that populate the global Jewish community and to encourage further conversations.

Each three to five minute episode of the series combines footage of a historic conversation held between Jews in New York and Jerusalem and documentary segments about the participants. The young adults in the videos (ages 19-26) were selected to portray a wide range of views and contrasting perspectives so that every member of the audience would find something to which he or she could relate. The Jewish Reconnection Project strives to help viewers understand the perspectives of those individuals with opposing views, in addition to perspectives that they share.

Jews around the world need dialogue and a better understanding of each other to overcome the existing divisions between communities. As documentary television producers specializing in media about young people, we hope that this series helps Jews all over the world discover what being Jewish means to them and the connective threads which bond every Jewish person to the next.
