Born in 1985 and raised in Arizona, Yaakov earned a B.A. in Global Studies from the University of California at Santa Barbara, where he was intensely involved in environmental and community activism, ultimately organizing a (now annual) 3,000 person music and arts festival based on zero waste principles. He went on to earn an M.A. in Global History from the London School of Economics and an M.A. in Global Studies from the University of Vienna. Yaakov was a Founding Member of Moishe House Vienna and is Founder and Director of DAJUS ('Da Jews'), an organization dedicated to publicizing the Torah values of Diversity Awareness Justice Understanding and Sustainability through creative media. Yaakov recently won the Jewlicious Festival Jewish Film Competition for a series entitled "Cruisin with DaJus". Yaakov is proficient in Hebrew and Mandarin Chinese.

Cruisin With DAJUS is an up and coming six-part video series delivering a rare breed of informative yet entertaining Israel based video content to unaffiliated American Jews. Winner of the 2011 Jewlicious Film Competition this video series aims to shift the paradigm of Israel focused multimedia, taking viewers through an intimate MTV paced tour of the most exciting personalities, sites, and festivals of the Jewish homeland. The goal of the project is to elicit a robust and positive emotional reaction from 18-30 year old unaffiliated Jews, evoking a proactive desire to connect with future Israel-related events and trips.
