Born in St. Petersburg, Russia, Dmitriy Moverguz immigrated to Buffalo, New York with his family when he was 12. After high school, he moved to Philadelphia to pursue a degree in Computer Science at Drexel University. Philadelphia has since become his home. Being a part of the Russian Jewish community in Philadelphia, Dmitriy tries to engage its young professional members in various Jewish social and educational activities with aims to enhance Jewish awareness and self-identity.

DAVAI Association creates opportunities for Russian-speaking Jewish young professionals in the Greater Philadelphia area. DAVAI seeks to develop the Russian Jewish community, enhance Jewish self-identity, bridge the gap between Russian-American Jews and greater American Jewry, help participants develop leadership skills, and engage in volunteer service.
