Updates from Be a Kli
>>
Congrats to Bradley Cohen on the very first Be a Kli retreat! It's a 10 day program for Israelis backpacking in India, combining community service in rural Indian communities with Eastern meditation and Jewish spirituality. Indian communities benefit from volunteers who tutor children in English, help build a community garden, and improve the village, and the Israelis learn about service, Eastern culture, and Jewish values, help a community in need, and improve Israel's image too. Quite a lot for a 10 day program!
Wondering what it's all about? Check out his YouTube video below:

Help Send Mosaic Ventures (Dan Rosen, PTI '08) to the Unreasonable Institute!
>>
From Dan Rosen, PTI '08:
Our project, Mosaic Ventures, was accepted into the final round of the Unreasonable Institute. It is a great honor and opportunity to move this dream forward.
The fellowship is given to 25 high-impact social entrepreneurs from around the world. The resources at the Institute will help our venture take flight. The fellowship is given to the first 25 who can raise $6500. The ceiling donation the first week is $10. Our goal is to get 200 people this week to donate. I invite you to help us reach or surpass our goal. Click here to donate.
Mosaic Ventures is developing a business model (venture fund) that works to get maximum tribal ownership of their renewable energy resources. Tribes have enough wind and solar on their lands to power the United States several times over. Through tribal investments in clean technologies, providing scale up opportunities on reservations, and transforming key policies, we can make a key move forward in building the green economy. We can make a key move forward in taking the sacrifice lands of the old economy, that were exploited in the fossil fuel era, and become the sacred lands of the green economy -- the places where the solutions to the world's greatest challenges are born.
I think the Unreasonable Institute will help give Mosaic Ventures wings to fly. I really believe that our project is a huge step forward for building the green economy and potentially for solving some of the defining challenges of our time. I also believe that we cannot do it alone and will always rely on the loving support of our co-workers, the Creator, friends, and family.
I am grateful for your votes and if you could send it out to friends, family, and your networks, that would be a huge support.
Thanks for everything that you do.
Daniel

TAMID Israel Investment Featured in the Jewish Week
>>
New York's The Jewish Week featured an article on TAMID Israel Investment. Founded by Eitan Ingall, PTI '08, and Sasha Gribov, TAMID connects American business-minded students with Israeli startups and entrepreneurs, connecting college and graduate students with Israel while helping them further their career aspirations.
From the article:
"At 1:45 a.m. on a recent weeknight, a group of 27 Jewish students gathered in the main auditorium at University of Michigan’s Hillel. Instead of breaking out the beer, they video-conferenced with Nir Elperin, vice president of Arba Finance, a venture capital firm in Tel Aviv."
A middle of the night conference call when you could be surfing facebook in your pajamas? Now that's commitment.

Presenting Shelby Zitelman on PTv
>>
Week two of PresenTense Summer Institute 2009 was filled with learning, networking and lots of working. This week, Glenn Yago, Joseph Kanfer, Sandy Cardin, and Dov Abramson (to name a few) came by the Zion Hub to speak and see the fellow's progress. Fellows also had their first day trip to Tel Aviv on Tuesday. Fellows visited Systematic Innovative Thinking, Center for Educational Technology and even had an opportunity to practice their pitch at Battery Ventures.
Today, the fellows jumped right back at work giving deliverables in the Zion Hub.
Shelby Zitelman took time out of her day to talk to us here at PTv. Watch the video below to get to know Shelby and her wonderful work!
