PresenTense fellows return from Israel with new ideas
The work of the three Cleveland fellows was made possible by a partnership between PresenTense, a self-described “global start-up” co-founded by Beachwood native Aharon Horwitz, and the Jewish Federation of Cleveland. PresenTense – a Jerusalem-based, largely volunteer-run program designed to encourage innovative Jewish projects mostly from 20- and 30-somethings – launched the JFC/PT Cleveland Social Entrepreneur Fellowship this year.

Tribe 12 is bringing to the area the PresenTense Community Entrepreneur Partnership, which is essentially an idea incubator for young-adult programming. With a grant of $50,000, it was one of the few new programs to be awarded any funds.

Since opening its doors in November of 2009, Next Dor STL has connected hundreds of young Jewish adults in St. Louis. Yoni Sarason, the Program Director of Next Dor STL, has been invited to spend 6 weeks this summer living in Jerusalem as a PresenTense Fellow. Each year, PresenTense selects a handful of social entrepreneurs working on a variety of social ventures that seek to solve problems facing the Jewish People and the World to participate in the program.
