CEO of the Yerushalmit Movement
Shira Katz-Vinkler is the CEO of the Yerushalmit Movement. On completing her army service in an intelligence unit Shira left her hometown of Tel Aviv to study Social Work at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, graduating in 2002. Shira’s professional career as a Social worker led to her specializing and developing expertise the field of children at-risk. Shira joined the Yerushalmit Movement in 2010 as their Young Families Coordinator and quickly rose through the Movement’s ranks, exhibiting natural and creative leadership and a passionate dedication to strengthening Jerusalem as a pluralistic and inclusive city and empowering grass roots activism that builds community through shared values. Shira developed the Movement’s core vision of Jerusalem as a “Community of Communities”, working towards bringing together the broad spectrum of the City’s residents, from secular to Ultra – Orthodox, Arab, Christian and Jew, LGBT and more, to not only coexist in harmony but to find common ground and interests on which to collaborate and create a shared society. In heading the Movement Shira has built up a network of activists, local agents of change, from each and every community and sector and was chosen by Yediot Achronot as one of the most influential social activists in Jerusalem in 2015. Shira serves on the board of Presentense and is an active member of the Schusterman ROI Community. Married to Eyal, Shira is the proud mother of four Jerusalemite children!
